Sport is where an entire life can be compressed into a few hours, where the emotions of a lifetime can be felt on an acre or two of ground, where a person can suffer and die and rise again on six miles of trails through a New York City park.  Sport is a theater where sinner can turn saint and a common man become an uncommon hero, where the past and the future can fuse with the present.  Sport is singularly able to give us peak experiences where we feel completely one with the world and transcend all conflicts as we finally become our own potential.

Hi there!

As a lifelong athlete and a lover of photography, I created The Beauty of Sports to merge these two worlds together. When a photographer is able to capture a great moment in sports, he or she is capturing a great moment in human achievement. To me, there is nothing more beautiful than athletics. And when a moment in sports can be captured in a photograph, it’s simply magical.

The inspiration behind the name of this blog came from my wonderful dad. Since I was a little girl, my dad has always pointed out a great play or a tight game or an underdog victory by saying “See, that’s the beauty of sports.” My dad has been with me every step of the way: from the time I was playing 4-v-4 soccer as a five-year-old, through my high school sports years, and now as a NCAA lacrosse player. My dad has always been there to show me the lessons that can be learned through sports. He has taught me to see the beauty in all athletic competition (and the endless amount of hard work that leads up to it).

I want to make a very important point: I do not take credit for any of these photographs. I post as much photocredit information as possible, and each photo has a click-through link to the original source. I want to thank all of the amazingly talented sports photographers out there, without whom this blog would not exist.

So please, enjoy the photos! Keep sharing the love of sports and photography with the world. And please, do not hesitate to ask me questions or give me suggestions :)

Wishing you the best,

Sarah
